Greentram's director, Tony Bryer, lived in the UK until 2008. After studying Building Surveying at Reading University he spent ten years working for a local authority, first on building maintenance, then as a Building Control Officer, leaving in 1984 to set up a design and build company with a colleague. In 1988 he moved on to set up his own company, Survey Design Associates Limited (SDA), working on building design and software development.
In 1990 SDA introduced SuperHeat which checked building for compliance with UK building regulations relating to energy conservation. SuperHeat was taken over by Elmhurst Energy Systems in January 2008.
In 2008 Tony relocated to Melbourne, SDA's business being transferred to a new Australian-registered company, Greentram Software Pty Ltd. SuperBeam and ProSteel have been steadily enhanced since then and in 2010 were joined by a Eurocode-based program, EuroBeam and subsequently its online sibling, EuroBeam.net.
